Post subject:  Slightly bend mast

Hi everybody !!!
I have a Hobie Cat 14 mast that is slightly offset at the top. The first 4 meters from the base are straight but just at that point (4M from the base and 2.5M from the top) it makes a small curve, it is neither marked nor wrinkled. The deviation is 4cm in those last 2.5M.
The question is: do I forget about that curve (although knowing that it is there it worries me) or I try to straighten it.
If I had to straighten it, is there a suitable method to do it?
Thank you all very much.
It is my first catamaran and I am reconditioning it :D

PD: sorry for my english, please ask if something not clear and I will try to do it better

You could brace the mast at either side of the bend and then use some mechanism to "reverse" the bend. Go slowly and you should be able to cold-set the mast back to straight (or at least lessen the bend).

Thx a lot Dookie !!!
I´ll try to brace the straight zone and reverse slowly and in short steps with ratchet straps. Will let you know the result 8)

I(we) straightened an H17 mast that had a slight bend by bracing on either side of the bend as mentioned by others. Then, three of us spread out along the bend to keep from making a direct point load. The outer two helpers followed the lead of the middle but, with less pressure. Not an exact science but it worked and was straightened in one try.

Good luck!
