Replacing the side bar - & taking the trame off/frame ap

Subject says it all.
My sidebar's bent up about 1 to 1.5 inches.
I have a replacement from a standard (my's a turbo) so will need to drill out and transfer the tang for the turbo's jib cable under the tramp... no biggie there.

My concern is I "think" I need to pull the frame from the hull pylons to get the sidebar out. Is this so? What if the casings are "fused" to the hull pylons? I'd rather not bang on things....

While I'm at it... how do I tell (some tell tale signs) that it's time for a new tramp...?

Was out in good winds (12-15mph) last weekend here in Ocean Springs, MS and had a hull up many many times (at 150lbs)... SCREAMING good time. I was shaking w/excitement the whole drive (10 minutes) home!

Loosen up the tramp lacing, unless someone epoxied it that is usually all it takes. My 14 literally fell apart. If it doesn't just slip apart get yourself a big ass dead blow hammer. It helps to have someone lifting up on the frame, and hold the hull down while you're bangin' away.


Holes, grommets pulling out. You've fallen though it, that sorta thing.

I bought an old boat, and did not notice someone used silicone sealer on the joints. I had to give up, as even an hydraulic jack would not shift them. But assuming you have removed the four bolts, and then I used a rubber mallet to give it a tap, and all is well. Sometimes folks reweld the sidebar, and rotate the side bars, but then you have to cut a new entry point into the side bar for the tramp. On the tramp, generally you will have had to restitch it a few times before it actually rots out.

A 14t in 10 to 15kts is just the greatest fun.
