Can anyone give me any pointers to a place that rents hobies in Ft. Myers Area? I am heading down in 10 days and so far all I have found is waves and bravos. Prefer a Getaway but would settle for a 16 or 18 if I could not find one.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

I know this is about a month late for you, but I just learned this myself:
Sundial Resort on Sanibel Island had a Getaway.

Thanks for info. I'll keep it in mind, may be back there next year.

I did find one in a state of disrepair at Pink Shell Resort on Ft Meyers Beach. Pieces missing, no trap wires, tramp blown out, no tiller extension. What a shame. Nobody there seemed to know anything about them.

I did get them to rent me a wave that was in OK shape. Very boring. Wind was light. We did however get to sail a while with a school of dolphins which thrilled my wife.

That is just about indicative of the state of cat sailing around here. It is a crying shame, because the waters around here are perfect for it. I keep my boat at Gulfport Yacht club near St. Pete, a cat sailing club with regular biweekly club racing. The Getaway at Sundial was is good shape last time I saw it.

I'll be headed back to Ft Myers in a few weeks and wanted to toss this back out there again. Anyone have any tips on where I could rent a larger beach cat? I would prefer a H18 or Getaway. A 21SC would be nice too but I find it hard to beleive anyone is renting a 21SC out there.

I've emailed and called Sun Dial twice and have yet to recieve a call back. Does anyone know if they are still in business?

UPDATE - Finally got in touch with Sundial, they no longer have a Getaway for rent. Nobody knows what happened to it, still on their list of items for rent, but boat is gone.

I found a place, no Hobie 18 but the 16 will work fine for a little sailing.

The told me that they have a Hobie Wave 14 foot and also a Hobie 16 foot. The Hobie 14 is $45 per hour and the Hobie 16 is $65 per hour. Holiday Water Sports Fort Myers Beach, Inc.
