Post subject:  OR - Places to sail near Eugene, OR

We are moving to Eugene, OR, from IL, at the end of June and was wondering where are good places to sail our Hobie 18?
Anyone now of any clubs there, or can recommend places to safe places to sail would be great.
Thanks for your help

Welcome to Oregon! (Im a Hobie 16 owner from medford OR area 2.5 hours south of Eugene)
You are fortunate to have a large and active yacht club w/ several gung ho multi hull sailors. Home lake is just minutes west of town(Fern Ridge Res.) Start at- www.eugeneyachtclub.org/
Now-figure out a way to pack up and get out here by this weekend as this is a Multi hull regatta weekend! check out the event on the website.AArgh!
Also-there's a gem of a high mtn lake(Waldo Lake) 1-2 hrs east of Eugene w/ decent predictable winds high atop the Cascade Mtns- no motor yahoos and u can see down 70-80 ft like emerald bay in lake Tahoe CA Heres 2 more clubs and lakes south of Eugene OR;

Go to Waldo Lake!!! Amazing! Lots of great places to sail a hobie in Oregon- mountain lakes throughout the cascades, hood river, and a lot of bays and harbors on the coast.

Yeah.. but check around first with the sailors at the clubs (or your Bend Oregon Hobie Dealer) closest to the lake(s) you may be contemplating. Many of the lakes have swirling, unpredictable quirky wind patterns due to surrounding mountains that create a bowl. Hence, a beautiful day can quickly evolve into a frustrating, exhausting and anxiety ridden experience fraught w/ tons of accidential slamming jybes and tacks!
