Post subject:  MO - Tablerock Lake

I plan on a short vacation at Big Cedar Lodge, near Branson, MO, on Tablerock lake. I am planning on taking my H16 and my Bravo. Does anyone sail this lake? Any comments?

I have with my monohull, its not bad for a lake surrounded by hills. You will deal with the twisting winds as one would expect but nothing like lake of the ozarks. While you are down that way, you might consider a day trip to Bull Shoals, that is my preferred stop when I'm down that direction. Out by the dam you should have nice winds and open water. Power boaters are insane on both lakes. I have put in at shell knob and Lampe by the way.

Stockton lake is about 60 miles from Branson, we sail our h16 there. It is mainly a sailing lake, with lots of good wind. If you have a chance you might want to try it out.
If you are going to be in Branson during weekdays there is not as much traffic on the lake. You can probably put in down by the dam at the state park, if I remember correctly the ramp is a bit steep. Indian point is also by the dam and I believe there is a boat ramp there also.

My family will also be in Branson next week, but I won't be bringing my boat.

Happy Sailing, John

John is right, I'd never bother taking a sailboat to Table Rock, too deep down in those Ozark hills.

He's also right about Stockton, lots of big blue water boats up there on the plain, great sailing lake, former home of a Hobie fleet, very scenic, water clears up nice do to rocky soil so bring PVC pipe or wheels for beaching your fiberglass boat.
