Hello, just bought a hobie 16 a little over a year ago, and just recently found this large crack. I'm in a bit of a jam, have only done some minor cloth/epoxy work on the bottom of the hulls so far, but i just discovered this large crack along the rear corner of the port hull of my hobie 16(unknown year), and i'm not sure how to tackle the repair.

here's a picture of it:

as you can see by the picture, the area has already undergone numerous repairs(and fortunately is the only area on the boat with such repairs).

when the rudders are pulled up into the locking position, that crack will expand quite a bit. should i practically wrap the rear of the hull in fiberglass cloth, and epoxy like crazy, or is there some other method of repairing cracks like that??

any help would be great, thanks.

I would think that that is a relatively high stress area. My suggestion would be to try and inject some resin into the crack, and then lay up some glass on the outside. maybe even install a deck port and try to get at it from inside the hull as well.

I'd put a layer of glass on the inside and the outside both. :?
