Hi there,

I just bought a 1973 18' Hobie Cat Classic Yellow Color.

I been reading over alot of different ways to either repaint or re gelcoat this Hobie. So many different ways to do it .

I think after reading alot of the differently ideas im first going

Step1. Try to lightly sand just a tad off the surface of the boat to see if i can rebuff alot of it back to life.

Step2. Re Epoxy the cracks and dings, and gouges , prime those and buy a UV paint from Kyrlon ( finding the color to match may be a problem )

Step3. after i use the Kyrlon should i use some type of gelcoat or gloss acrylic to cover the paint? and buff it out

Main question was on top of my 2 hulls, there are these half foot wide areas that go all the way down the lenght of the boat i guess to give you some footing so you dont slip off the boat, not the black rubber you glue to the boat, but these are imbedded into the boat hull.

how do you clean + repaint or gel these without making them to slipperly or losing their gripping with your feet? hopefully i explain that correctly

please post your opinions im looking forward to working on it in the next weekends.

thanks,
Derek
