What kind of Paint

I've been looking at my (once) blue hulls, the bad gel coat patches, and the little holes from my delam repairs most of the season an decided that I really need to pretty her up a bit. The gel coat is really oxidized and I would prefer white as well. So, I was thinking that I would paint her using a 2 part epoxy paint from Interlux. It seems to be the easiest (from what I've read) to apply.

Has anyone tried to paint thier hulls? Have you used epoxy paint? How well has it held up? Is gelcoat teh best answer for dealing with beach rash or would the epoxy paint hold up better?

I used the Interlux intherthane two part epoxy paint on a monohaul that I have. Painted it red, it still looks good after three years. Practice on a paine of window glass before painting the actual boat. It takes a little work to get the amount of thinner down for your climate and to learn to tip and feather. The results are great. Remember the more time you spend preping, the better the finished product. I too am going to paint my 18, but I think before I paint I will do the bottom either in Epoxy glass for durability or with Interlux epoxy bottom paint for the best of both worlds. The epoxy paint will not hold up to beach rash at all. The epoxy bottom stuff is pretty stout. We painted the bottom of our J24 with it and after repeated sandings during the season it is still intact.
