I have read alot of fixes on delam issues but why can a foam product be used. Weight seems to the main down side on normal fixes or leakage thru the foam. I had worked in the waterski industry years back and worked with foam cores and lamanated tops. With the idea I purpose the injected foam would adhere to the glass and foam and the adhesion is the strength of the I-beam effect, I am sure someone had thought of this but if it is a sturcture issue can someone give me some insite. I would still use gel puddy to fix the holes and gelcoat for the hulls. I need help on my 76-16HC.

Foam... bad idea.

I have seen and researched the current resin way to fix the issue the comments say do not fill the hulls with foam which I agree but it still does not address the idea of using foam for a delam issue on the top deck not sides or hulls. Just bad idea does not explain why. Has anyone tried it and failed? I have worked with fiberglass so the resin is workable but I would like to see if the idea would float no pun intended. thanks

That was the point of looking at all the posts on the subject as to not have me review again something that has been discussed in detail here.

Foam will expand between the glass layers an force it apart.

That degrades the structure.

It would also be harder to get it injected back deep in the void.

Best solution is as described in the sailing FAQ on delamination: http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1156

Sorry I wasted your time, as a helpful tip for future people asking the same questions a google search (Git Rot hobie hull repair) provided your sites best answers in one area, I was not getting it all put together searching thru the site. But in the end I got the education I needed to fix and get sailing, and really in the end thats what it is about. Thanks again for your help.
