I have a 16 mast that has a very large dent going from 1" foward of the luff track to nearly the front of the mast. the mast is bent at this point and I would probly be safe to say that it is a crease. Is there any way that this can be repaired? I thought about cutting the bad section of the mast out straighten the remaining mast and welding in a new peice but I don't know if this is a good practice?

sorry about your mishap but NO ! don't do it. The metal has been stressed to far and chance of total breakdown is to great even if you try to patch or sleave your damaged section. Once agian sorry but find a sound replacement.
good luck
Harvey
