Post subject:  Help With Monocat 12 Rebuild

My sons just acquired a Hobie Monocat 12 that is waterlogged. We are trying to remove the deck to take out all the waterlogged foam. We have drilled out all the rivets, but can't seem to seperate the deck from the hull. Anybody have any suggestions?

This is not a good solution unfortunately. The foam is a structural part of the boat and is bonded to the plastic. You have to tip the boat up on end and let it dry over a long period. Although I have heard many an attempt of your idea, I have never heard a success story.

I don't know if you've still got the old monocat... but if you're curious about what you're dealing with check out this thread...
