Hi, I just bought my first hobie cat 16' a week a go. Used with hulls from 1987 in almost perfect condition except for one thing

The right hull deck, where the front post enters the hull has flexed down and shows when compared to the other three post locations...like if some weight was placed on that corner for a long time while in storage.

The deck base is still solid with no cracks on the hull, but the deck has flexed down about 3/4"-1" from where it shoud be...

The deck around the post has a concave shape to it instead of the convex curve the entire hull has!

Can this be fixed?

Thanks!

The "Pylon" post structure has failed inside the hull. There should be topics that have lots of detail. Do a search in this forum.

Basically, the post is seated in a foam and glass shoe. The post has moved in the shoe or the shoe slipped in the hull. Install an inspection port. Reposition the post using a hydraulic jack. Re-glass back into position.

Do not sail the boat before correcting the problem.
