I have an 81 H16. I think the main traveler car is original. The part that slides in the track connects to the part that attaches to the sheet, this connection looks like a door hinge connected with a pin. Yesterday I was out sailing and this pin came out about half way. I was able to get it back into the hinge, but the rest of the day I noticed that it would slip just a bit.

What can I do to keep the pin in the hinge? Is my car super outdated and inevitable that it's going to snap anyway?

Thanks for your help,

Adam

Re-seat the hinge pin. You may need to use a nail to push it in just a bit further. Then pinch the hinge's end closed a little. That is how it is done when new. I assume the end just opened up a little and allowed the pin to start coming out. Be sure the car does not hit the corner casting when you gybe. Tie a knot in the traveler line that will hit the traveler swivel cleat with the car just short of the casting.
