What is the best way to remove gel coat from a hobie 16 deck with anti skid. I would image if you sand it, it would remove the anti skid texture?

It is impossible to remove the gelcoat without removing the non-skid texture. The texture is molded into the gelcoat. If you need to remove the gelcoat, then the only method is to sand it away.

If you want to later replace the textured gelcoat, then you have to mold it back in when you apply the new gelcoat.

Well that answers my question, and makes perfect sense. Thanks!

Check out "This Old Hobie" articles in the Hobie Hotline magazine on non-skid repair.
