Hi
I have a Hobie 21 with wings. The problem is thet the hulls keep cracking at the point at which the wings enter the hull. It appears that the tube into which the wings are inserted has too much movement.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help

Wing tubes have to be fixed from the inside of the hull. Install inspection ports near the tube openings. Be sure the bottom of the tube is anchored in the hull. There is a receiver fixture that it fits into. To fix a tube crack, wrap glass around the tube. I would also add some glass between the tube and the rail/deck up top to stiffen that area again.

More WING TUBE questions? I have had to fix both aft tubes on my 21SE, I was successful by placing inspection ports aft of the aft cross beam tubes.
I now have a forward wing tube that needs fixed but am concerned with the loss of hull strength if I put a permanet inspection port (hole) forward of the forward cross beam tubes. What is the best method, I sail in some pretty heavy weather conditions usually with 3 very experienced (and big) crewmen on board.

HI, I'm also from Jacksonville and have a 21 SE for sale. You seem to be more active than I so I was wondering if you knew of anyone looking for a 21. I'll willing to make someone a good deal...... see my ad in the classifieds.

Thanks,

Troy
