I have recently purchased a Holder 12 for my son to sail. The boat is in great shape but there seems to be too much play (wiggle) in the mast. It fits pretty snug at the top of the tube (socket) but the bottom seems very sloppy. Is there supposed to be a pin that the mast seats on? If not, is there a fix for this problem? |

There is no pin. The mast simply sets in the hole, but the structure could be compromised if it is moving much. Would require installing a deck plate to get inside and shore up with glass. |

Do a Google search for "laser mast base repair" and you will find all sorts of information, including a kit that's not cheap, but is a complete fix. I'm not sure if the lower masts are the same size, but this is a good place to start. |
