Post subject: | Frozen Shroud Anchor - help please. |
Spent most of the weekend re-assembling, cleaning, and looking for all those bits and pieces that we packed away last winter. On, and helping a newby rig a 1977 H16. Sunday, after lunch, I got round to 'the list', which included replacing the Shroud Anchor pins. Looks like they were at least 10 years old. Port side came off with a bit of a battle, and on inspection, it was good that I had made the decision to replace - it was mildly bent. Who needs a fracture in the middle of a good sail. Starboard side proved to be difficult, then it 'froze', and I could not undo it any further. My thinking is that this anchor, too, is bent, which is why I cannot unbolt it. My only option now is to use a Dremel tool to cut off the head? Any other suggestions please.... I'd like to go racing on Weds.... |

If you can get it to tighten, maybe cut off the head of the anchor bolt and then screw it out from the bottom. Otherwise, for $25, its probably less of a headach to replace the whole anchor bar. sm |
