Hello, I have to repair the keels of my hobie cat 15, but there is an orange coating that i don't know what is. Do i have to remove it before applying the fiberglass?
The second question is that the rudder, because of the movement, has broken part of the fiberglass. Some idea for avoid that after the reparation?

Thank you.

Ferran.

May have to ask Hobie Cat Europe about the orange material. Does not sound like anything used in production. Maybe added as a wear material? I would say yes to removing it. You need fiber to fiber bond when adding glass to the keels.

Transoms can get cracked from over steering. maybe when the boat is moving backwards in surf? rudders slam hard over.
