Mast came apart at mast tag. Compit looks okay. Will ha ve to cut mast & lower tang.
Shorten mast by 7in. What about wires & sail?

You're asking for a lot of aggravation shortening the mast by 7". All of the rigging will likely have to be replaced with custom lengths, jib may not even have enough clearance to hoist all the way, foot of the mainsail will be practically dragging on the tramp. You would be much better off sourcing a new (used) replacement. They tend to pop up fairly often on craigslist.

Cutting the mast by 7" seems like a lifetime of frustration. Everything from wires to sails to racing handicap will be affected. Even if you manage to get everything set correctly, your boat will be considerably underpowered compared to others. You'd never be able to keep up.

Perhaps you can find someone selling a junk 16 and salvage the mast?
