How to repair a Mirage drive with a cracked tap screw

I am trying to repair my hobie Mirage Drive system. on the Spine of the
drive system, on the very bottom is a tap screw that holds the long
metal rod from slipping, well I stripped it. If I order this part
81181001 - SPINE. will this fix it and do you have a manual of how I can
put it back together, it looks like I have to take every thing off and
put it back together? thanks for the help.

I know how to put everything on on the bottom of the spine IE, Mast, Sprocket, sprocket guards, its everything above that I have never had to replace, is there a manual for this, Thanks for any help on this issue.

Okay, let me try it again, maybe I am not explaining correctly,
lets say I want to take apart my Mirage drive and clean every piece and spray with WD-40 and put it all back together, what manual or website can I go to put back together my drive unit. Matt M, can you help ?????

I am getting deperate, I have not been fishing in a week, and I am getting the shakes.

You may get a better response posting in the Open Kayak section of the forum. I know I don't look at the kayaking section of the forum very often, and I'd guess the same may be true of the kayakers in the sailing section of the forum.

Just a suggestion.

Replacing the spine would fix this issue since the set screw is part of the spine.

We need better documentation on re-building the drives. At this time we do not have a step by step instruction. The most difficult issue though, is the tension of the chains and cables and that is covered in the owners manual.

We do have a lot of articles in the kayak forums that may include more detail.

Thanks for the input Matt, It was not that bad at all, I took everything apart and put it back together no problem, It is allot easier than it looks.
