I'm ready to replace my Getaway which I bought in 2006, but just found that Hobie only apparently makes the new orange-lime color scheme, which definitely not to my liking. Are there any of the old color scheme Getaways still available anywhere? As close to the NorthWest as possible...

Or will Hobie restart the old colors - I can wait before I buy a new boat!

No plans for a color change mid model year. Earliest would be next September, but usually colors stay around a few years. Must be working for some people... we are having an amazing year with Catamaran sales.

Hi Matt,

I'm having the same dilemma as Xavier. I am ready to replace our 16 with a getaway. Getting old and need something a little more tame for myself and the grandkids. I love the lines on the new getaway but would like colours that are a bit more subdued. Is it possible to get a white sail and forego the coloured decals on the side of the hulls?

I think I saw something like that in a video put out by the Mission Bay Aquatics Centre.

You can order custom colors, white or the older style sails with a new boat. Either peel off the graphics or possible the factory would omit.

Well, I like the new colors and hull design. But my 2012 Getaway is running just fine, so I guess there's no need to update yet. Pshaw.

I was going to follow Matt's suggestion to order a new Getaway with the old sail colors, but found out that swapping the Martiniq for the Seabreeze colors increases the cost by $620 or about 6% of the value of the boat... Really! I would have understood a hundred dollars or two, but $620

Business must be really good for Hobie. Come on Hobie, colors are transitory fashion statements, but I've had my 2005 Getaway for 13 years and intend to keep my next boat as long - that's not transitory.

Disappointed,
Xavier

Had I kept my Getaway...eventually I would have removed the decals, replaced the sails with white or carbon black, removed the mast bob (I don't capsize). Then, I would have had the appearance of a boat and not a toy. Color belongs in your spinnaker, nowhere else IMO. I understand free advertising with every purchase...but at least we get the opportunity to strip them off if it annoys us.

I like having the bob there but maybe I'll paint it sky blue...

I pull up to the boat launch with my 2017 Getaway behind my black pickup truck wearing a Metallica or AC DC T shirt so I can feel secure about my masculinity. Just kidding, I never gave the color a second thought until I come across this post. I am fine with the colors. Steve C.

I should say that I too have thought about getting a white sail, OK maybe with one stripe of blue or something...

Matt - I'm also interested in picking up a new getaway but don't care for the orange & yellow color scheme. Do you know if a new color scheme is coming soon?

Thanks,
David

I wonder if you can negotiate to buy the boat without the sails, then buy the sails from one of the many other sailmakers I have noticed with normal or radial sails for the getaway, any color scheme you like.

Custom is the only other option.

We have a variety of cloth colors available.

Matt -

Do you have any recommendations for the best way to remove the orange decals from the hulls?

Thanks,
David
