@Matt Miller, wondering if there is any additional information you can share on the expected availability of a new Getaway? I've been wanting to purchase a Getaway since January. From discussions with my dealer, a new Getaway likely won't be available until August at the earliest. Super disappointing, as I was looking forward to family outings on the water this summer. Are you able to comment if August is a realistic date? or is it equally plausible that further delays could occur? Appreciate any info you can provide.

The new mold arrived and is being processed for testing and production now.

Do the new moulds give identical hullshapes as before. I'm still waiting for my replacement port hull and wondering if I'll end up with an asymmetric boat. What was wrong with the old moulds out of interest?

The old mold was damaged beyond repair and would not make quality parts.

Saw the first boat out of the new mold today. These will look mostly like the original Getaway. If you had a reverse bow, we would get a pair for you to replace under warranty.

The molds are still being broken in. Production not yet started.

So, if they come out wrong from the mold, do you just grind them up, melt them, and start over? :-)

We do recycle, but we do not reuse. It has to start as fresh ground powder.

Very interesting. I too am on the waiting list with a dealer to get a 2021 Getaway boat. I have not been able to find an answer as to why the boats are delayed until now, from a factory rep who is in the know...thank you mmiller :) Perhaps the dealers need to be informed since none of them, in my experience so far, have been told of why there is a delay? New potential buyers like me are curious. We are almost half way now to 2022. None of the dealers (three of them I have contacted) have had a reason for me. I thought it might have been Covid related like many other supply chain related delays. Their best time estimates have ranged from June through August. It now looks like August.

Given the current situation, I am considering buying used, for roughly in the $8000 range for a boat with pretty much everything that are available now versus waiting for August?, for a new boat whose bottom line price is running in the neighborhood of $15,000 after everything.

I'm not complaining, I just very much appreciate the new to me information regarding a delivery date. :)

Seems that the 2021 Getaway will not be available until at least August or later ?? Wondering if Hobie will just skip this year & sell the Getaway as 2022 models when they finally ship them. I ordered a Getaway w/ a healthy deposit several months ago but no details yet on when & what Hobie will deliver.
Hobie's website shows last years hulls with the 2021 sails, 2016 hulls with 2017-2020 sails, and last years old hulls & sails but no pictures or details of the new hulls that they are currently selling.
Still waiting.....

If shipping in August, I will assume it would be 2022 serial numbered.

From another perspective.....
Mon - Fri 9 - 5, I work as CFO of a Plastic Injection Moulding factory, and we rely on plastic pellets produced by ~6 suppliers in the Houston area.
Ever since the February 'deep freeze' in Texas, when all the refineries had pipes burst etc, and the suppliers declared 'force majeur', we have had the devil of a time
getting an adequate supply of raw materials.
And yes, from time to time, we also have problems with moulds.

It helps to be patient.

I'm about to list our '04 Getaway for sale locally if anyone might be interested. (Just downsized to a Wave.) It's a 2004, with galvanized trailer, decent mainsail, new Sailrite jib last year, wing seats, good rigging. The only issues are a few small (1/4"-3/8"range) holes in the main and one of the hatch covers has lost a bit of the hinge. Still works and seals when latched but you have to align it properly to closed. Located in South central New Hampshire. Asking $5000. Delivery in New England possible. Message if interested or for more details. Once I gather the pictures I'll post in the For Sale section.

Hi Matt, for these new Getaways, will older (original, 2005 era) wings fit them, or have the molds changed the dimensions too much?

The dealership told me last week that any new Getaway will sell for $15K! I have a 2019 Getaway with the new hull design, used 3 times and is stored with the mast up (and snorkel) stored at my marina in South Texas. It appears I've aged badly. The dealer told me my boat has appreciated to $12K. I'm pretty sure I have to sell, or disassemble and ship to WA, where my son is a professional yacht captain. If anyone is interested, in case I don't go thru all that, let me know. Haven't listed it yet. I am moving to WA state and already overwhelmed with the process. Also open to advice, hey!
