I’m looking for insight from my fellow Hobie Caters regarding a solar powered DC voltage system for my Getaway. I already have a Torqeedo electric motor that will be recharged from a 45w roll up solar panel that will be permanently mounted. I want to add a 2nd flexible Solar panel to charge a “house” 12 VDC system that will power chart plotter, nav lights, cell phones, laptop etc.

What I’m looking for is the battery/unit box that will provide those options. Waterproof would be awesome!

Thoughts?

Do you have the Torqeedo solar charger? If not, you might not be able to charge the Torqeedo battery. It's tricky. I tried using a different panel with a voltage controller, evidently the battery has some control circuitry inside that's pretty fussy. I talked to their tech and still couldn't make it work.
Where are you mounting the panels?
