Rudders not stiff enough for the task
Rudder stocks even more floppy
Pintles weakly secured to the transoms
Wouldn't it be nice to have an option to buy an upgraded rudder system?

Main downhaul... Hobie only provide a single line which is not long enough to provide purchase to give the required downhaul tension through the luff

The reverse bows shape is fast and at 17ft waterline length, potentially a Hobie 16 killer.
How about a Hobie Getaway Turbo option being produced.
Same shape (reversed bows and wings) but built in GRP or even carbon fiber so old guys like me, who can't grow up, can sit all day long, blasting around on a super fast boat.

Or maybe there's not enough old idiots like me to make it financially viable

A few years back (like 20...) there was a Hobie Miracle 20 with custom wings for sail. I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing it. Does anyone out there know of this boat?

You basically described the new Topcat K1 Touring!! After my issues with the current Hobie plastic boats, my next boat must be Fiberglass. Sadly, most new beach cats seem to be built for reggetas/speed/foil. Not for the comfort cruising sailors who want cats with wings/boomless main/no dagger boards.

Hobie should make a modern version of their old fiberglass cats like the H21 or H18. But I won't bet on anything new coming from Hobie other than some other Kayak.

I love the look of that, especially the black and white livery.
Thanks
