Post subject: | Cheata Motor Mount or Home Made ? |
Hi all I am new to this forum and need a little help locating a good used cheetah motor mount for my getaway or plans on how to make your own Ive racked my head around the high cost of the mount and I have tried to come up with something on my own but keep having trouble clearing the rudder arm ,I found this video on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RLh0V_g-5U) and the guy says he made the mount from $50 dollars in material from lows, any one know how he made it or something close to it. Any help would be Great |

Interesting. I got one off ebay. I don't think it was for a getaway as I had to mod it a touch. Have you emailed the youtube poster for help on diy? |

Any luck with a response from the guy that made his own in the video? Looking to make one before next season. Looks simply enough but not sure how it's attached to the rear crossbar. |

http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=17509 Here are pictures of my homemade light weight motor mount. Most of the parts are aluminum extrusions from Trailex. It has worked flawlessly. let me know if you need additional information, pictures or dimensions. |

Thanks for the link to the pics, Looks awesome. How did make the crossbar mount? what size is that square tubing you have bolted together and how thick is it, what did you use to cut the angle in the square tubing of the crossbar ( band saw, grinder) can you elaborate on this A bit more on this, also ball park cost of materials. Thanks again hope fully some other people can post some more great ideas and pics |

Hi Guys n Girls, I have made a motor mount for the Getaway today, all 316 stainless, had some lying around. "The prototype" I built last week works a treat. Its very light and is held on with 2 bolts and doesn't get in the way of anything. I mounted a 3hp mercruiser and it pushes the Getaway along just fine, If anyone wants to see it, I can chuck some pics up. Pics are up now,"motor mount crossbar integrity" have a look and tell me what you think, Cheers everyone |

Ok, as I have saved the patern, I have made another motor mount, this one is even better, no rivets. all one piece, all 316L stainless, similar to this one and it is for sale if anyone is interested. |

Here is my latest effort, all one piece clamp, drill two holes and bolt it on. Very stable. And this is how it looks all mounted up. |
