Post subject:  Upwind without centerboards

First, I apologize for my bad English.

I’m looking for my first cata, but I have experience sailing in cruisers and dinghies. I want a familiar boat for summer, but also to enjoy sailing and open social club races the rest of the year. I think probably the getaway will be a superb family cata, but I’m not sure if, without centreboards, it will go upwind well without a considerable leeway. Someone knows the minimum effective angle, including leeway, that is the getaway able to go upwind? What about the polar curves angle vs boat speed for different wind speeds? It’s better to start directly with a hobie tiger?

Thanks.
