I just purchased a 2002 Getaway. Now I'm looking for manuals, videos, etc. to familiarize myself with the boat. I didn't see anything available on the Hobie website. Anyone know where I can get these?

When I bought my 2006 new, it came with very little information, most of it you can find on this website. If you are having trouble trying to rig the boat post your questions here, you will gets lots of help. If you are new to sailing there is a Hobie sailing instruction book that I'm sure you could pick up on this site for a few bucks if not free. The boat is dead simple to sail as long as you know the basics. Go out for the first few times in a light breeze and as your confidence builds you can try bigger winds.

It's not sailing information I'm looking for. It's getting familiar with the rigging, putting up the mast, sails, etc. Doesn't the boat come with some kind of owner's manual?

Can anyone point me to a maintenance manual? I need to know what I need to do on a regular basis to keep things functioning properly, winter storage preparations, etc. Thanks.

There is no "maintenance manual" for a Hobie Cat. Nor have I seen one for any sailboat. There is no way to judge use like an odometer or other that makes sense.

But there must be things I need to do each year to maintain the boat i.e. lubricating moving parts? I saw a note in another thread about "putting lots of UV protection on the Comtip". How do I find out about things like this? I don't want to have problems down the road because I didn't know to maintain something properly.

Lots of opinion in the forums, but not specific place to get the whole story. I really depend on the area and how much the boat gets used. For some... a rinse with fresh water is a lot. Some do nothing at all.

So, here are some basics:

Rinse with fresh water after every use. Cover to protect from sun.

On occasion...

Lube rudder cams (if applicable).
Lube mast step ball joint.
Inspect wires, pins, rings, shackles.
