Quick question - I am using a two piece mast that I assemble everytime that I rig the boat. The sail has a small tear at the top of the sail near the bead/rope that slides up the mast. It goes up fine, but it gets hung up when I bring the sail down. So, two questions:

1. Other than the small rip that gets hung up, the sail is in good shape. Is there a way to repair this?

2. How can I keep it from happening again in the future?

Thanks for any information,

Kevin

1. Sail tape, available at West Marine, etc...

2. Check for rough edges in the luff track or sharp corners at the joint, and file/sand them down. Then use McLube Sailkote (also available at West Marine, etc...) in the track and on the sail's bolt rope.
