Went down to the beach today, where I leave my getaway and found the mast down and broken at the seams. completely broken between the mast and comp tip. Anybody repaired one before??

Thanks,

Sounds like you need a new comptip. Is the aluminum section heavily damaged at all? Pics would be great!!!

I have asked this before but will try again, is the xross section of the lower part of the getaway mast the same as the 16? If so I would like to find a one piece 16 mast and swap all the harware over. One my 06 Getaway the union is all messed up and the com tip is starting to wobble.

will get some pics when back down, but I suspect that Comp tip will have to be replaced.

No. Not the same.

If your CompTip is just loose, you can remove it and re-seat with epoxy.

my getaway blew over this summer and broke off the tip of the comptip where
the mast head attaches. i was able to repair this and so far so good. in
the meantime i ordered a new comptip for getaway and have it as a spare. it was
over $700, let me know if you are interested.. i am on long island ny.. doug

So I guess you could buy another getaway mast and cut off a section that was the same length as the com tip, make an aluminum joiner and epoxy them together and then just transfer all the hardware over. Sorry I don't mean to downplay the importance of the com tip but I only sail at my small lake, the boat sits in front of my cabin all summer and there is so power lines anywhere near where I launch and pick up the boat. I am just a little tired of messing with the thing every year. And the $700 price just adds to the intention to get rid of it.
