Hobie Spinnaker Kit Installation on Getaway

every beach or 'small' catamaran I know of that runs a spinnaker, uses the mainsheet as a backstay.
That's why we always set the traveler, then tighten up on the mainsheet before we raise the spin.
This is critical, especially with a comp tip mast.

Due to the geometry of such boats, you cannot run a backstay, as it will jam up the mainsail.

Thanks Keith and John for your assistance! I have two different solutions ready based on your replys and may have figured out how the original owner had it set up. Sailing on Sunday and will post after.

—So I tried mounting it with a spinning swivel below the furling drum. WHile this worked, it did bind a little when furlign/unfurlig. I have a spanner (thanks for all the great pics) made out of wood, now, and will try this next weekend. I popped the spinnaker on Sunday for just a few minutes as we were coming in and everything worked. I can’t wait to do it again this weekend.
