Post subject:  problems with roller furling

The roller furlling on my 2007 Getaway is not working properly. It seems like its very "tight" when furling the sail. It seems like a spring is being wound very tightly; it will "spring"back when released. Also, I have checked the swivel at the top of the jib and it seems pinned to the mast by the shrouds. I should add that the line for the furler is completely wound around the drum. Anyone have any experience/suggestions with getting the furler to work smootly and easily?

first the swivel should "not be tight to the mast", with the swivel in the middle and a shroud on each side there is lots of room for the swivel to be free. Undo the sheet lines and pull the line all the way out, if the line was bunched up it may have been causing the problem. Roll up just enough line to complete furl the jib. I cut the excess off but you could just coil it up and tie it to the tramp.
