On my 2013 getawayI noticed quite a bit of flex in the comp tip when tightening the downhaul when rigging the main sail. Is this normal? I was afraid to really pull hard on the downhaul line because it was so noticeable. It looked like the comp tip was deflecting several inches towards the stern at the top. Is this normal?

Yes, normal.

Only downhaul enough to remove wrinkles.

Thanks I wasn't sure because the black down haul line that comes stock with the boat seems too short to properly secure the the cleat.

The black band was designed as a max downhaul for racing classes. On the Getaway it's function would be for electrocution warning only (same sticker).
