I just got a 2005 Getaway and I'm new to sailing catamarans. When I setup the mast tang, 2 shrouds & jib, the 8mm shackle look like it has just enough space. Are the 2 trapeze wires suppose to go at the same place or in an other hole/shackle? Also, do the trapeze have weight limits? I'm 6'4" 285lbs, will it over stress the mast/comptip?

The upper most hole for the trap shackle pin... hoop / bell of the shackle passes through the center larger hole. Wires hang from the bell to either side of the tang.

Wire and mast can handle it.

Matt -

I purchased the hobie trap kit for my getaway and it didn't come with the shackle for attaching to the mast. The instruction page that came with the kit identifies it as a 1/4 bell shackle. I am unable to find a "bell" shackle and I have tried a couple of 1/4 inch stainless shackles, but they are too long to fit correctly through the two holes. Can you please provide a part # or some other information that can help me find the correct shackle?

Thanks!

10700000 SHACKLE "BOW" 6.4 MM

You can also hang it from the main shackle. That seems to be how the kit is packaged. It's a cleaner install with the second shackle though.

Thanks Matt. Is there a version of this shackle with a hole in the pin for safety wire? (like the main shackle)

Not that we have. Just use vise grips to tighten. This is standard for all Hobie trapeze.

Howdy. I got a new trap kit for my getaway, but I did not have an instruction page. I'm wondering if you still have yours by chance and could snap a shot of it for me. I've not rigged a trap before, and have nobody nearby. Not sure how to hook everything up :)
