I had a couple of Hobie 17's and my wife and I really liked the wings on them, they were comfortable to sit on, and she could lay on them.
The Getaway wing seats, as you all know, are narrow and hard. Can't lay on them, not terribly comfortable, and I feel insecure sitting on them, like I'm going to slide off; particularly when the hull is flying.
So I'm wondering if anyone out there has adapted a 17 or 18-style wing seat to a Getaway. I've been giving it some thought, and am not too sure how to do it. It would probably take some mad fabrication skills.

The God's of Stock are not going to like this, but I went to Sam's and found some multi colored floor padding to be used indoors in front of your work bench, cut them into approx 8 inch by 24 inch sheets and contact cemented them to the tops of the wings. Really comfortable !!! They do fade a bit if left in the sun all summer, but they really do work.

Thanks! That's a great Idea.
My biggest wish though, is that the wings were wide enough for my wife to lay on. She really liked that about the H-17 wings. She's a little thing, but not quite as little as the Getaway wings. ;)

These are cheap ($1.52 each), waterproof and probably fit under the wing seat covers if you add elastic line to allow the covers to be loosened. If you measured the wing seat length, you could buy the correct quantity to line the tops of the seats.

A more reasonable price on a couple of these would be great for long trips....
