We'll be picking up a 2001 Getaway this weekend (bought for a price I couldn't refuse). It'll need some work on the comptip and has the expected bit of cracking where the crossbars pass through the hulls, (G-Flex order about to be placed). Comes with a new jib, the main looks to be in very good shape, PLUS a nice condition galvanized trailer. Can't wait to get it home and start prepping it for sailing (it's been unused for a few years) and look forward to picking your brains for advice and info.

AAAAARGH!!! Seller is having cold feet/nostalgic feelings for a boat that hasn’t been in the water for 4 or 5 years. Hmmmph. I told her hold on to the cash I’ve already given her (1/2 the agreed price) and if she still want to keep it in a week, go ahead and send me a check. Here’s hoping her (non-sailing) husband and a little time will seal the deal.

Update: Brought home a different Getaway this week. This one was also advertised as needing a comptip, but after getting it home, I've determined I need an entire mast as this one came with the bottom section from a Hobie 17. I just made the deal to buy a used 16 with a nice one piece mast that I'll adapt to the Getaway. The Getaway seller also couldn't find the jib (but told me they were easy to find...) so I'm jib shopping as well. Might try to adapt the 16 jib. I'll post in the general Getaway forum when she's ready to launch!
