I thought I posted this earlier...

Anywho - I'm considering doing a full rehabilitation on a Getaway if I can get it for a song. Being new, however, what would one budget to replace all "soft" items, like tramps, sails and lines? I'm guessing there are other repairs and parts to be replaced, but thinking large scale/rough estimates of what you think would be safe-ish?

$2,000 for sails and rigging (assuming all the blocks are there)?

Ideas?

Call these guys. They rent Getaways, and they replace the oem sails and tramps with more durable ones for the rental trade, so they have new oem stuff available. Or you can buy the tramps and sails they use, I think cheaper than oem.

OEM stuff will easily run over 2 grand if purchased new. Aftermarket stuff varies by vendor. With good research, good quality stuff can be found significantly cheaper than original.

Well, I'm open to doing this new hobby either way, as i dont mind the work.

Bummer is, now that I'm interested, the market is rapidly going cold/season ending for most.

Don't forget standing rigging. Not very expensive thankfully.
