Hello all. I tried a search hull repair and was coming up with stuff that was four years old. I was just given a 2002 Hobie Getaway that I actually sailed when it was brand new. Starboard hull was replaced by Hobie due to cracking and it is holding up just fine. The port side however cracked later in life. A very small crack at the drain plug and two cracks on either side of the stern crossbar. Now that it is 2018, has there been any solutions on repairing the cracks? I'm big into DIY and have no problem buy the equipment to do the job. I'm just not sure how to tackle this plastic and It doesn't seem to be HDP. If it is, someone please correct me, I can repair HDP kayaks with ease. Thank you for any help from those that have "been there done that".

Curious what the solution you came up with is. Did you completed a repair? Any photos?

I have been told that one can essentially plastic weld with #2 plastic and it works well, but have never tried it. Maybe ya can try a little spot before going hog wild.

I recently inquired with Hobie Cat about 3/8" long cracks in the hull at the rear crossbar, and was told that it is a cosmetic issue only, that there is "a substantial amount of material" in this area and "they have never seen a Getaway with a failure at that point". I have heard people mentioning cracks at this point but never heard of a failure. Has anyone heard of cracks at the rear crossbar causing a failure?
