Went and bought a nice trailer for my 14 yesterday, and it came with a ratty looking getaway on it. After getting it home and inspecting, everything is much better than originally thought, but there are these 2 Cracks at the rear crossbar mount. Are they normal cosmetic cracks, in which case, it may be worth buying all new tramps, lines and wires, and sailing it when the family are along, or of those are going to be more trouble than they are worth, in which case I’ll sell the good parts and offset the cost of the trailer. Thanks.

Does not look good. I have never seen one actually fail, but those are large cracks.

That’s too bad. Could have been fun, but not sure i can justify $1,500 in tramps and ropes on a questionable hull

Anyone have a getaway with a good port hull and a bad starboard? One of us can get happier...

Is the hull plastic recyclable?

The plastic is cross-linked polyethylene... don't think so.

Trouble. Hull is garbage. Not worth restoring. Sell the crossbeams, rudder, furler or anything that looks sound; toss everything else.

Has anyone actually seen one of these fail?

There's a restoration project on youtube that address a similar issue. They seem to repair cracks successfully.
