Post subject: | Masthead float questions |
I recently removed the masthead float from my 2011 Getaway so that I could clean it. During cleaning I noticed two things that seemed odd: ![]() (1) The mounting bracket puts the float at angle to the mast. Is my bracket bent or is this how it's supposed to be? (2) While cleaning the float I removed the screw-on stopper seen in the photo above and I heard the distinctive sound of air being released from the float. Was that just a function of the normal atmosphere in the float having been heated --it's July in Texas as I do this-- or did I need to do something special now to refill this float with air? (That seems unlikely, but since I was asking about point #1 I thought I would ask about this as well.) (2a) Assuming that the answer to #2 is "No, goofy, you don't need to fill the float with air" then what is the purpose of the screw-on stopper? Thanks! --Matt |

Just heat expansion of the air. Good that is exhaled! The bracket is bent. Should be square to the float / mast. |

Quote: The bracket is bent. Should be square to the float / mast. Thanks, Matt. Is there a part number for just the bracket? So far I've only found a part that covers the entire assembly, which would be overkill. Also, what is the function of the screw cap and this circular plug? ![]() |

Black drain plug. The white spin-weld cap covers the rotomolding vent. |

They’re not bent too bad. You should be fine removing them and bending them back. |
