We just bought a new-to-us 2016 Hobie Wave. Who all recommends the Mainsail Traveler Kit? We will not be racing it.

Not necessary, but a nice enhancement. Makes sailing reaches and runs easier and also sailing in stronger winds.

Any leads on traveler kits? Looks like they’re $499 online. Seams like a lot for track, traveler car and a cleat. Anyone have cheaper leads or successfully pieced one together?

For instance, could this setup work:
1. Ronstan series 14 track
https://www.shopsoundboatworks.com/coll ... -series-14

2. Ronstan swiveling dead eye and cleat
https://www.shopsoundboatworks.com/pages/hardware

3. Ronstan series 14 traveler car with saddle top

https://www.shopsoundboatworks.com/coll ... -series-14

It seams that I could cut the track to length and mount this up pretty easily. Any thoughts, or not worth saving $100 and just buy the kit from Hobie? Thanks

Hello:

I've purchased a 1976..maybe 1977 H14. I'm already into a new sail, tramp, main blocks w/ line, Down haul, halyard, rudder cams and springs, alum. tiller, beach wheels...my big challenge now is the main traveler. The part I need, (new traveler car called car) is no longer available using the existing track.

Can anyone suggest new track and car I should consider for an older H14? I understand this will be a removal of the current track and reinstall new.

I'll be able to sail it without this replacement until replaced, and will be a winter project.

The car is available... just on backorder. This should be resolved this week.

105 Complete car.

106 Lower rollers only.

I'm late to reply but for future readers....

I LOVE my traveller kit!! Aside from adding another tweak to play with, it helps me get home downwind when there is hardly any wind left in the evening and it helps me not be terrified when it suddenly gets windier than I want.
