I am in the process of ordering some cradles for my Cat Trax and came across a surprising note in the Product Description for the Hobie cradles on the West Coast Sailing website (https://westcoastsailing.net/hobie-cat-cradles/). It states that they should not be used for rotomolded boats. Does anyone know why Hobie put this restriction in the description?

I think the reason behind their statement is the plastic and carpet when wet is very slippery. I added the SUP traction stuff to my CRADLES and no more slippage. Everyone I know uses cradles on their trax for the Wave. I have the CatTrax product cradles and they are stout.

Bob is right. When I purchased a new Wave a little over 6 years ago, I already had a set of the original CatTrax with their cradles that I had used with my prior Hobie. The Wave tended to slide around on the cradles carpet making them difficult to use. At the time I just wrote it off to old carpeting. I purchased sections of Hydro-Turf (quality stuff) in the waffle pattern with adhesive already applied and used it to replace the carpet. That worked great. I use the cradles for both launching and retrieving the boat. And six+ years later they are still going strong.

For sure cradles are OK to use on the rotomolded boats. Far better than just the Cat Trax Axle. The cradles are far easier to get under the hull and not squirt out (axle spins and rolls out from under the hull).
