I had to re-revit a new Mast step (base) on my 96 Wave SE because it got loose (a buddy almost dropped the mast when the pin was still in while stepping it so it pulled out the revits and made the Mast step loose). I had to drill the revits inside the Cross bar since i couldn't pull them out.
I'm sure the bar is hollow since I would need to open it if i'm installing a new trampoline. Is it worth the effort to open one side and get the old broken revits out? Are the rubber endings for the bar glued?
Also I used Steel revits (not Alum) was my guess correct?

the steel rivets are more likely to rust with you, the bar is hollow inside so I would not worry about them unless you get tired of hearing them roll around.

Thanks Brad for the quick response.
I thought of the rusting thing but the guy at the shop told me that I should use steel since this holds the mast and sail and i dont want this to happen again while sailing.
I know that the pressure is mostly on the 2 shroud and forestay wires since this is what holds the mast up, but heck he's doing this for living so i figured he probably knows more ;).
He sold me what he called (High Performance steel rivets), I know he probably added the High Performance part. HA!

Just make sure those steel rivits are a good quality stainless. You can check the parts guide to see what type of rivits to use. Go with whatever Hobie reccommends. Using stainless and aluminum togeather like that will cause a galvanic rection and corrode the metals (mostly the aluminum) over time (years). Hobie will have figured out is aluminum rivits could work for the mast step or if stainless is required.
