On this video max speed is 14,5 knots. But the wind was about 12-17 knots. Have fun:)

I was in 20 to 25mph winds last Saturday and a guy in a zodiac told me I was going 20mph. I told him "maybe 12 to 15" and his teenage kids jumped in a said it was 20mph. No proof, but I was flying....

No doubts here and I'm certain it will go faster. Not knowing what the windspeed is that creates aerosol over the water but I got caught running downwind in a sudden case of that once on the Wave. While the boat would not pitch, it instead went into something resembling a broach and capsized. What the speed of the boat was just prior I do not know, but it was hair raising. This year might get some good recorded speed records for the boat. There is interest and we've got three boats here to work with now.

My personal record is 16.1 mph (13.990 knots) :)

I was hoping to break it this last weekend but only got to 15.7 mph

Your 16.1mph is great, I hope to break my own record of 16.4 soon! Need some BIG wind to do it. :D

I didn't see any video of a Hobie Wave with trapeze so here is mine record two days ago. Wind was about 6-16 knots. I was sailing with my brother (90kg + 75kg) so we are really heavy crew:)

I will also record a video with Hooter/Reacher/Code 0 becasue I order it. Pole, furler etc everything is ready I oonly now wait for sail. I also didn't see any video with Hooter/Reacher/Code 0 so maybe video will be helpful for somebody!

While they won't give you potential top speeds of the boats, the Portsmouth D-PN numbers do give a good indication of relative speed between different boats. The lower the number the faster the boat.

http://www.ussailing.org/racing/offshor ... l-classes/

http://www.ussailing.org/racing/offshor ... -inactive/

To compare all the multi-hulls you'll have to use both charts - some current boats are on the "inactive" table.

For example, the Wave is a 92.1 while the Hobie 16 is a 76.0. Some variations are in place for specific wind ranges.

Can you sail the Hobie Wave with the trapeze solo?

I didn't try. Mast is so in front so It will be difficult to stay on trapeze, because when you go to much forward hobie will dive when gust come... It's good fun for crew but not for the helm on sobie wave - in my opiniom of Course, maybe somebody else try and have fun.

Downloaded 'Boat Tracker' to my i6 this morning knowing today would be a blow and indeed it was. It is as simple an app as could be found, tracking time duration, average speed, max speed, distance and altitude. Before 12AM no white caps and arrived at 14.99 mph best. Winds building into the early afternoon was able to reach 16.46mph and was pleased but could see the breeze continuing to build. At about 2:30PM the white caps were screaming down the lower basin of Lake Mead and I set the tracker to obtain the best speed. After the run, back to the marina, took it off the boat and into the restaurant to share with friends. Top speed of the day was 18.28mph/15.88knots. Was hiked out with one foot in strap and butt and body behind the rear crossbar. I gave it my very best in nuking conditions getting completely drenched in 100 degree temps here in Southern Nevada. I don't think that this is the limit as on a run in 30 mph breeze a few months ago do believe to have gone faster. The boat is an extreme sailing machine when the winds are up. Sorry no video to share as do not have the means to get the gopro yet. I got a few woo hoos from lookers on. Lake is busy right now.
