This is a great idea, one that I'm going to try and replicate for my Getaway. Two questions though: 1). What is the small yellow string that goes from the camera and is wrapped around the PVC? Just a safety? 2) why the upturned ends on the crossbar that bungees under the crossbar? I think I may try and cap all ends so that it is waterproof. I do have the floaty orange door for the gopro, but I don't think it would hold up water filled PVC. Will post dimensions if when I get it finished. Thanks for the idea! |

Hi Creative Really well done on the PVC set up Creative. Killer footage...it seemed like you had a `smoking` day on the water, hehehe. Having watched a lot of Wave footage, your rig is incredibly stable! For those of us who may need a cam boom rigged to the Wave (and who can't mount a rig on the rear X-Bar due to a motor mount or other reasons), this product may be of use: http://www.railblaza.com/products/view/ ... ts/177/59/ (I have no commercial interest in this product or company, but it works well as advertised, if their mounting system is used.) I have modified a 2012 Hobie Adventure Island with their mounts and fittings, and they are solid as hell. Keep in mind that any boom mount will never be as stable as what Creative built due to motion generated by the length of the boom and the strength of the fittings). (IE: The higher the camera is mounted above the center line of the hulls, the more amplified the motion will be to the viewer). Cheers Tri |

Creative I've watched your other offerings on the web and you are really good at what you do. A few weeks ago I sent a message to Hobie Marketing asking them to update their promo video material as it seemed years out of date. The response was that they thanked me for my input and it was mentioned that they are considering revamping their promo system. I suggest that you send them your work and see where it goes. Why? You showed the FUN in your footage. In the long run, I do believe that is what it is all about. Good Luck Trinomite |

Hobie needs to have a video contest...  No need for them to spend real money.. Just throw out a small prize for winning and let it rip.... I really like your set up.. I have been thinking about building the same thing for my 16 for weeks.. You must have stolen the idea right out of my head somehow..  what has been hanging me up though.. ( paralysis of analysis ) Building the device to hang the camera upside down and allowing it to swing smoothly.. Ya know.. so the camera will stay level with the horizon..  Oh... and on the 16 it is going to require snaking over the crossbar so the tiller extension can pass smoothly... But.. The trick for that.. Take a heat gun to the PVC carefully.. You can get it warm and bend it into shape..
