I am a novice sailor (but used to windsurf) I will mostly be sailing solo - so Bravo seems to be much easier to rig, fun to sail for one, and as a new sailor the furling sail seems like a big benefit. However - I am tempted to buy the Wave for obvious reasons - I can go with my wife, daughter, friends. I'm just concerned about the headache and time to rig this solo - enough that I might not use it as much. Realistically - how long does it take to properly rig it? Also is it harder to learn to sail than the Bravo? |

The Bravo's bound to be a bit faster to rig, just because there's less TO rig. But I think the Wave is a better and more versatile boat, while being equally fun and simple to sail. Rigging time depends on your starting point. I store my Wave mast-up on a beach, with my sail in a storage box next to it. I'm on the water in less than 5 minutes. If you have to step your mast and attach the rudders, maybe add 5 minutes. If you're hard-core, and disassemble your SE Wave hulls and tramp for transportation, maybe add another 5 or 10 minutes. If you're taking delivery on a new one still in the shipping boxes, I'd give it an hour or two, with reading the instructions and sorting the parts like I did. I've always rigged mine solo, usually sail solo, and never had ANY problem. |

I cartop my wave (club version), even for one day sailing. I takes me one hour to have my wave ready for sailing but I am stil ok with this. I consider the rigging time as an integral part of sailing sport. There is of course another hour to have my boat back on the roof at the end of the day. |

Me too, i cartop the boat every time I go sailing. Only difference, i have an european Hobie 13 but this is nearly the same only with GFK and less weight in the hulls. I just set up my Wave a few days ago for the season. It took about an hour going from 2 hulls on a trailer, rest of the boat up in the barn loft, to raising the mast. It will be longer than the Bravo but the two boats are miles apart, even at this end of the performance scale of cats. I had the Wave out in a very gusty 20-25 and hit 15 mph. I was backing off early because it was cold. I'm in Vermont. I think the Wave is just a more versatile, faster, and more stable boat than the Bravo. And for 2 up? No brainer. |
