I have backrests on my 2002 Wave. I need to replace a part located on the inside of each tube but I can not find an exploded view of the backrests. I assume this part is original to the Hobie backrests. I bought the boat used so I'm not sure if this part is a Hobie item or not. The part I need is a small block located on the inside if each tube that contains the threads to receive the screw from the top of each hull. The screw threads into this block thus keeping the backrests in place and secure. This block is held in place with two small screws which keep it in the correct location. Any parts diagram or link would be appreciated. |

That would not be standard from Hobie. There is no block related to the screw to hold the seat backs in place. The screw down from the deck simply sits in a hole in each leg. http://2010.archive.hobiecat.com/suppor ... 040011.pdf |

Yea I figured. These little blocks inside the backrests tubes look like a nice idea but after a couple of removals of the backrests for winter storage, they are no longer tight and getting the screws to line up with the threads is no longer possible. So I'll have to come up with plan B. Thanks for the info Matt. |

Disregard the blocks. The screw is not supposed to be a tight fit in the seat tube. Should sit inside a loose fit hole which allows some movement of the seat back when in use. A tight fit will break a screw. |

Well I may have to go with quick release pins. The previous owner of the boat didn't do me any favors by drilling such a large hole in the backrests tube. The hole is larger than the one called out in the instructions you sent earlier. So to install a screw from top down, it'll be very sloppy. I'll have to think this one over as we really like the backrests but to sail with them loose, I feel the hole will get elongated over time. |

Same goes for a quick pin. The hole in the tube should be over sized. |
