Do people glue or rivit the two halves together or leave them stock? I saw a boat for sale that had the two halves glued together - is that common and why?

Some very important people in the class (me) leave them unglued and unriveted so that they can be separated to go under the boat for trailering. I take the halyard out too. I figure if it's in the trunk of the car it won't somehow get loose and drag on the ground. They're expensive.

My question would be why would you want to glue. Them if you ever travel with the boat lot easier with two ten ft than one 20ft
