Post subject:  Looking to try a Hobie Wave before purchasing
I'm interested in buying a Hobie Wave but looking to try one out first. I sailed a Hobie 16 as a younger person and want to get back onto a Hobie in retirement. I live near Baltimore and could easily get to DE, NJ, MD eastern shore. Want to make sure before I buy one. Does anyone own a Wave in this area and if so, would you mind letting me crew on your boat?

I am surprised there has not been any replies.
There are some places to rent around Dewey Beach DE.
Examples I found with a quick internet search. There are probably a few in OC, MD as well.

Hi Babs
I live a very long way from you, but asking to crew on a small boat like the Wave will not get you the real test of the boat unless it is blowing stink.
It would be better if you could solo the boat on your own in moderate winds.
The boat is incredibly easy to sail as there is only the main sail to adjust.
If the boat has been modified, you may need a friend to get to know your boat a bit better.
Either way, you'll have as much fun as possible (with your clothes on) when you take ownership of the vessel.
(I don't know of a better way to endorse The Wave).

May I also suggest that you go to Hobie.com and look into where your closest dealers live. This will set you up with a possible test drive and a relationship with a dealer that can help you get connected.
