Hey All Ratchet blocks used to be a way to get a `cheap winch`without all the `nonsense`, but used to only work one way (lock or unlock). If you have a need for an extra hand, this is as good as it gets: http://www.ronstan.com/marine/product.a ... No=RF56101 About $60US each and worth every penny. (read the option of the throw switch which is why this block is so popular). It also comes in 3 versions from Ronstan based on your deck design. RF56100, RF56101, RF56102. (Edit: This part is also sold in the Hobie Catalogue as part number: RF56101 Auto Ratchet with the Dyneema line connection which will lie flat on your tramp when not in use.
