Hi everyone,

I am looking at an older Hobie Wave and found a Classic. Most threads say buy a Club version, but I am a big fan of "if it is in good shape and the price is right, buy it".

It has the original tramp, it does not have tracks and I believe the boat is about 17 years old. SLO makes a two piece, which would allow me to at least get some good tension front to back, arguably the direction where one have the most stretch. Has anyone used this tramp yet and how is it working for you?

Okay, one more thing, how bad does the existing tramp setup sag with three people on it?

Thanks Pete

If properly tensioned... no problem, but mostly you sit on the hulls, not the trampoline.

With the original one piece you use the mainsheet system to pull it tight, but the real tensioning is the back corners on the underside. The cable leads back to a 3:1 purchase. You can get the best tension by using that 3:1. Then you can use the mainsheet to de-tension and then re-tension if you take the boat apart.

Then you use the four webbing straps along the aft bar to get more tension.

I would not replace the trampoline for tension issues if recreational sailing.

Thanks for the quick response. It sounds like those hooks are fastened in there quite well and I do not have to worry about pulling them out if there is a 3:1 purchase there to help :) Pete
